Cross the beautiful bridge of D.Luis I to the left bank of the Douro River, you will enter the city of Vila Nova de Gaia, sit on a terrace and enjoy the view to Porto. You are now in the best possible area surrounded by Port Wine Cellars, the hardest will be to choose which one to visit, as there are close to 14 cellars.

Continue pedalling along the river to the fishing village of Afurada, you will know that when you see the small tiled houses with their doors open and the scent of the grilled fish. As the fish arrives fresh, this is one of the best places to eat really good fresh fish. There are restaurants for all tastes.

After lunch follow the trip towards the Douro estuary, given its location, it is one of the best existing sites in this region for bird watching. After the quiet visit to the Douro estuary, you can choose one of the many 30 ocean beaches that Vila Nova de Gaia has, many of them recognized with a Blue Flag. One of the most emblematic beaches of Vila Nova de Gaia is Praia do Senhor da Pedra known for its church constructed by the sea in the year 1686, the monument was born thanks to the devotion of the fishing community.

Vila Nova de Gaia has a coastline that extends for more than 15 km until the city of Espinho, where you can cycle and have the ocean as your companion. Enjoy!!
